Leaside Trust.

Based on the River Lea in Hackney, Leaside delivers inspiring and engaging outdoor activities to young people.

Based in an area of London which is in the top 10% deprivation bracket in the UK and 29% of young people are not in employment, education or training (NEET), Leaside offers hope to young people, encouraging them to stay in education, develop their confidence, leadership skills and ambition.

Leaside provide a variety of activities within an educational framework, including canoeing, mountain biking, orienteering and expeditions.

7000 young people use Leaside each year. We work with 39 schools and youth groups in the local area. 8 of these schools are for children with Special Needs and we also work with Pupil Referral Units, providing activities for children who have been excluded from the main schools system.

Young people come to Leaside to have fun but we also focus on delivering transferable skills that will improve their life chances. Many of our young users have become teachers, coaches and even Olympians; but most impressive of all, they have helped children come back from the brink.
